Achieving pae ora - healthy futures for all

As part of the health reforms under the new Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022, Te Aka Whai Ora is helping to develop a range of strategies to guide our health system to achieve pae ora, healthy futures.

Haoura Māori Strategy

The Hauora Māori Strategy sets the direction of the new health system for improving Māori health and wellbeing. This mahi is in partnership by Te Aka Whai Ora and Manatū Hauora Ministry of Health.

To develop this startegy, a series of two-day wānanga are being held across the motu from February to March 2023.

These wānanga will reaffirm the hauora aspirations and whakaaro you may have shared with us before, and hear any additional hauora Māori priorities, opportunities or issues to achieve pae ora, healthy futures for all New Zealanders.

Kia Ora and thanks to everybody who has registered for the wānanga, which are now full (we are no longer able to take registrations):

  • Northern Regional Wānanga – 9 Feb to 10 Feb 2023 (Whangārei)
  • Te Manawa Taki Regional Wānanga – 21 Feb to 22 Feb 2023 (Kirikiriroa Hamilton)
  • Central Regional Wānanga – 7 Mar to 8 Mar 2023 (Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington)
  • Te Waipounamu Regional Wānanga – 10 Mar to 11 Mar 2023 (Ōtepoti Dunedin)

This will be the first opportunity to meet kanohi ki te kanohi with iwi, whānau and the Māori health sector since COVID-19. (external link)
