Integral to improving hauora Māori is developing our hauora Māori workforce, and increasing its capacity.
By deepening the understanding of te ao Māori and Māori views on issues and solutions that originate from a traditional Māori knowledge base, across the entire health system - that is truly the path to pae ora - benefitting not only the daily lives of whānau Māori, but all New Zealanders.
Te Aka Whai Ora will boost efforts to attract, develop and retain essential talent - notably those with lived experience, aroha and manaaki, who are committed to contributing to better health outcomes for Māori.
We champion equal employment opportunities and will take a stand to ensure policies and practices and processes are fair and equitable for job applicants and employees. Wherever possible, workplace environments will be safe and suitable for tāngata whaikaha people with disabilities.
Our challenge is being effective in exerting influence across the entire health system, to improve equity and outcomes for Māori. But by working and collaborating with Te Whatu Ora, Manatū Hauora, our hauora partners and other key agencies, we will reach these goals.
And success will be shown with improved experiences and health outcomes for our whānau.
